When I was invited for this cocktail tasting event at View Rooftop Bar, G Tower, I was absolutely delighted. That’s for two reason.
1. Tasting large variety of cocktails with a touch of Absolut Vodka (probably my favourite brand of vodka so far)
2. Seeing real professional cocktail mixologists at work.
Upon entering the premis, I was greeted with a spread of buffet line. I wasn’t really that interested in that. What really got me going is the presentation of these following gems.
Absolut South Beach
50ML Absolut + 25ML Lemon JC + 20ML Sugar Syrup + 8 Mint Leaves
This is the first cocktail I had for the night. I like the minty taste of the cocktail. The hint of lemon of this cocktail is quite good and I think this cocktail open up my appetite for more food. Not sure if that’s how it works, but this is recommended for people who love strong lemon and mint taste for their cocktails.
Absolut Passion Tini
50ML Absolut + 30ML Passion Fruit + 20ML Lemon JC + 15ML Vanilla Syrup
I like how it looks as the color is very vibrant. However, probably because I’m not much of a passion fruit fan, I do not really enjoy this. The vanilla syrup in it helps to make things better for me. However, I was told by many people that this is actually one of their favs for the night.
Absolut Strawberry Basil Smash
50ML Absolut + 4 fresh Strawberries + 6 Basil Leaves + 10ML Lemon JC
I love the color and the name. But a sip of it, I found this drink is not really up to my liking. The strong basil leaves and lemon taste and covered much of the strawberry taste. Despite its name and color, the drink lacks in some strawberry taste. I would probably enjoy this if the lemon and basil leaves taste to be toned down a bit. But it was a very creative attempt nonetheless.
Absolut Pineapple Cardamon Martini
50ML Absolut + 15ML Cardamon Sugar Syrup + 50ML Pineapple JC + 3 PCS Cardamon Seeds
Probably the majority’s favorite of the night. It’s very sweet and a hint of spiciness lingers around in your mouth after it. Probably this drink and also the Absolut South Beach are the only drinks I drank twice that night.
Absolut Apple Rosemary Martini
50ML Absolut + Half Green Apple + 15ML Rosemary Sugar Syrup + 15ML Lemon JC + 1 Stalk Rosemary Leaves
I like how this drink taste too as it was sweet as well despite being not an apple fan myself. There is a combination of of lemon in it as well. The combination of lemon and green apple is great even by itself and this cocktail had bring it up a level.
Absolut Cinnamon Martini
50ML Absolut + Half Green Apple + 15ML Sugar Syrup + 15ML Lemon JC + Pinch of Cinnamon Powder
I only took a sip of this drink as I am not too fond of cinnamon. It looks attractive enough and the cinnamon taste gave the martini a slight depth in bitterness and also sweetness. It’s definitely unique and no surprise to why I saw so many other people order this drink.
Next we were being briefed by View Rooftop Bar’s head mixologists, Junior regarding his art of mixologists and his production. We were given a demonstration as well on how the cocktails are prepared. I was eager for this but too many people actually crowded the front area which made it difficult for me to actually observe. Overall, it’s a very fun and informative session of course.
It’s definitely an enjoyable session at View Rooftop Bar for sure. Great drinks, great company and great environment. seeing Junior and the rest of the mixologists at work is a true experience to be treasured.
