Malaysians are in the Korean craze! The food, the idols, the dramas, the fashions and whatever Korean, it will get into Malaysians for sure. It’s even harder to pinpoint a Justin Bieber fan here in Malaysia rather than any K-Pop fans. Guys, girls, young, old, fat, thin and whatever, there is a Korean market here in Malaysia. 사랑해요 김치요 순대요 수바루요 삼성요요요요 For those who know what I just wrote, please do make a guess. No prizes given though. I’ll give you my future signature from SM Entertainment.

Absolut-ly Cocktail at View Rooftop Bar

When I was invited for this cocktail tasting event at View Rooftop Bar, G Tower, I was absolutely delighted. That’s for two reason.

1. Tasting large variety of cocktails with a touch of Absolut Vodka (probably my favourite brand of vodka so far)

2. Seeing real professional cocktail mixologists at work.

Upon entering the premis, I was greeted with a spread of buffet line. I wasn’t really that interested in that. What really got me going is the presentation of these following gems.

Sunway Food Marathon at Atrium Cafe

What do you think of buffet in Malaysia? Sometimes due to the limited time, we tend to stuff ourselves as much as we could within the time frame. Being Malaysians, I think it is normal for people like me to be very “kiasu” and try to stuff myself even when I’m already at my limit. Ever wish your buffet time to be longer?

Last 26th June 2011, thanks to Rebecca Saw and Sunway Resort, I was invited to their irst ever Atrium 12-Hour Buffet Marathon. That’s right. An exact 12 hour long buffet with UNLIMITED entries. So how was it actually?

Going Italian with Silverspoon Trattoria

First of all, I know I had been slacking in my blog lately due to my hectic workload. But I shall make some time for this post. Before I enter this restaurant, I did not know what to expect from it. To be pretty honest, there are so many Italian restaurants around which I had tried some, I can say not many of them are able to produce some good Italian meals.

Silverspoon Trattoria

Upon stepping into this place, I’m quite impressed by the interior design and  ambiance.  Being an interior and event designer myself, I quite like the touch of raw, Victorian and modern in its interior. I suppose an interior of a restaurant play quite a role in setting the mode of its diners. In this case, I am to expect some fine Italian dining experience.

Weihenstephaner Beer from Germany (RM27)

I’m not much of a beer person actually although I suppose I can drink. One sip of this beer, I can feel the smoothness down my throat. Definitely one of the smoothest beer I ever had. Exactly what I love about this beer. It is very smooth and refreshing to me especially after a long day at work.

Ms Jazz (RM13.90)

Ms Jazz is definitely one of a kind. You can only get this drink at Silverspoon Trattoria and not anywhere else as it is our host of the day, Jessica Ng who invented it. It is made out of  lychee, orange sherbet, pineapple and milk.

Oreo Milkshake (RM13.90)

Although I did not tried the Oreo milkshake, but I heard from Mei Yee that it is very good as well.

As for our appetizers, we had this Chargrilled Calamari Salad. By far, I can say that this is the ONE and ONLY salad that I can kept eating everyday. Anyone can ask Caroline, I’m not a fan of salad but I think I ate the most of this salad compare to the rest. I especially love the sauce and how I wish I can have more. Although one of our companions commented on how the calamari can be improved, I still love it.

Chargrilled Calamari Salad (RM23)

Although this stuffed mushroom is quite good and everyone prefer this compare to the Chargrilled Calamari Salad. I still prefer the Calamari Salad. However, I love how tender the mushroom is cooked and the toppings go very well with it.

Stuffed Mushroom (RM19)

Next for our main course, we had this Duck Leg Confit. The duck meat is very tender and juicy and it goes exceptionally well with its gravy. It just makes me crave for more of it.

Duck Leg Confit (RM39)

Let me make this clear first. I’m a big fan of lamb meals. Lamb stew, Lamb chop, Lamb soup and you-named-it-I-like-it. This braised lamb shank did wonders to my tastebud. The tender and juicy meat compliments well enough with its gravy to send me into a frenzy. I like the fact that the gravy is very thick but enough not to cover its lamb taste. Did I mention that the mashed potato which accompanied it tasted excellent as well? It is very smooth and taste way way way better than the ones in KFC. Trust me when I said that KFC’s mashed potato is actually one of the best around here in Malaysia.

Braised Lamb Shank (RM39)

In a scale of 10, I would rate this rib eye steak a 12/10. Steak is exceptionally hard to cook. I like my steak to be 70% cooked and this steak is definitely perfect for my taste bud. I would rarely comment on a good steak but this definitely one of the best I had. The tenderness and juiciness of the meat still lingers in my mouth the whole night till the next afternoon. And now as I blog I am literally drooling.

Among all the pasta served, I love the spaghetti aglio olio the most. The rest of the pasta taste slightly above average but I still think the star among it is this aglio olio. Not too salty and the seasoning is just right.

Spaghetti Aglio Olio (RM24)

If you are a fan of salmon, this grilled salmon is the dish for you. The juicy meat and the crispiness of the skin is done perfectly well. I’ve tasted many salmon before, both outside and at home as some of my family members love salmon, it is hard to find a salmon which meat is not TOTALLY DRY or wet. This salmon is grilled with perfection. Crispy skin on the outside and soft juicy meat on the inside.

Grilled Salmon Fillet (RM43)

The Chicken Parmigiana is one of Silverspoon’s best seller. One bite of this, I can understand why it is so. Although they used chicken breast for this dish, I’m surprised that the meat doesn’t taste dry and it fact, it taste quite tender. The cheese and tomato gravy topping made the dish much more irresistible.

Chicken Parmigiana (RM29)

There are too many food to talk about here and so I would just show you the rest of what we had that night. Although I find the Risotto and Lasagna can be better, the rest said they are quite good as well.

Linguine Pesto (RM28)

Spaghetti Marinara (RM29)

Lasagna Bolognese (RM27)

Seafood Risotto (RM29)

Salmon Spaghetti (RM28)

So for desserts, we have these 3 tempting devils to entertain us. The Tiranisu, Creme Brulee and Chocolate Pot.

Creme Brulee (RM16)

Tiramisu (RM16)

Chocolate Pot (RM15)

I love the Tiramisu for it’s soft and creamy texture. Although most of us thought that it contains a bit of alcohol, our host, Jessica beg to differ. The Chocolate Pot is the one with a slight alcohol content and it taste good as well. Do judge a book by its cover in this case as the Creme Brulee taste as good as it look.

I’m seriously stuffed from all the food and beer, which made me unable to enjoy a cup of my favorite coffee. Here are the coffee that were served to us.

Macchiato (RM8)

Cappucino (RM7.50)

Hot Chocolate (RM8)

Too bad Johnson did not join us up in the group photo. I would like to thank all of them for a wonderful evening. The people with me for the night is Caroline, Lionel, Mei Yee, Johnson, Jessica and Desmond.

So will I return again? Despite it being located in Wisma Manjalara, I still think the visit is very worthy. I would definitely return again for another dose of great Italian fine dining experience. Thanks Silverspoon Trattoria for making it happen.

Dining In Ishin

Yesterday, my superior had decided to treat us all Japanese lunch to celebrate the success in bidding for a big event project.Although I was never involved in it in the beginning, but it’s a job well done to the rest of the team. To cut the long story short, my superior, Henry decided to bring us to Ishin which is located along Old Klang Road.

Upon arriving, I was actually amused that this look more like a bungalow than a restaurant. In fact, there are so few parking places around even for those illegal ones. Luckily for me driving my CLK, I was able to squeeze in a very narrow parking space.

Chemistry Is Cooking At Coffee Chemistry Cafe

During Caroline‘s most recent trip here, we planned for a meet up with Rebecca, Witch, Saucer and Grey as well. Initially we couldn’t decide where to had our dinner. And coincidentally, Johnson had been asking Caroline to pop by his new cafe Coffee Chemistry Cafe in Sunway Giza whenever we are free. So I suggest to had dinner at Ipoh Ipoh, Sunway Giza before proceeding to the CCC later on. Joining our meetup that time is Kelvin Tan and Kian Fai as well.
