Review : Bangkok 2015 With Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm f4-5.6

Author:

I think many of my friends knew that I recently had acquired an Olympus OM-D EM 5 Mark II. It has been a tough decision for me to give up my Nikon D90 DSLR that had been with me but the main reason for this jump is that I finally found a micro 4/3 system that suits my requirements which is great for both photo and video. Most importantly, it is lightweight. I need my camera to be lightweight as I made it a point to travel as often as I can when I am still young and a micro 4/3 camera definitely fits the puzzle.

And for travelling, I would always prefer a wide angle lens with me – and I believe you should to if you are into photography and traveling. Despite not owning a wide angle lens, I have to really thank Jackie for helping me out in loaning a wide angle lens from Olympus Malaysia. The wide angle lens that I gotten is the Olympus M.Zuiko 9-18mm f4-5.6 lens. At this time, the new 7-14mm f2.8 lens is not available yet but I am more than happy with it.

Wall’s Scoop Of Happiness Workshop

Author:

There are only 2 types of person in this world. 1 who loves and adores ice-creams and the other ones, are freaking liars. Who doesn’t like ice creams! I was invited to Wall’s Scoop of Happiness workshop the other day and in this workshop, I get to learn how to create food art with the only and only Samantha Lee, a Malaysian Instagrammer who is popular for her food art.

Wall’s Selection’s branding message is all about celebrating family bonds and happiness. They set to deliver their message through this campaign called Wall’s Scoop of Happiness Campaign which it sole aim is to make family members spend more time with each other. In these contemporary times, it is a crucial message as most young parents are working outside to provide for the family and the young children did not get the much needed attention at times.

Wall’s put together a video that showcase recipes to produce a number of fairy tale inspired food art. It resonates with the children’s interest and also it can be easily executed by anyone with the right ingredients.

With that being presented to us, we are given an opportunity to try our own food art later on. Plenty of ingredients and condiments are provided for our perusal.

Of course, not forgetting the 5 new flavours for Wall’s Selection – Cookies ‘n’ Cream, Hershey’s Choco Almond Fudge, Strawberry Cheesecake, Fruit Salad and Double Dutch.

Before we can begin our food art, we are given a demonstration by the renowned Samantha Lee. Samantha explains her thought and design process in coming up with her food arts and her sole purpose of getting into this was to encourage her children to eat healthy. That’s a tip for new parents!

Samantha shows us her sketches of her art before making them. It is essential to have something drafted out first before getting into it. In a short amount of time, she presented her 3 creations. Ice-cream proves to be one of the most difficult ingredient Samantha had worked with. The ice-cream had to be presented nicely before it melted.

We were then put together in a team of 3 to create a food art on our own. I was never one to be extremely good with craft but I was bugged constantly by Caroline to come up with a Minnie Mouse food art which even she had no idea how should she go about it.

And to me, with little experience of the ingredients, if I were to conceptualise from sketches, it will take a long time before I can even get started. I did a quick scan through of all the ingredients available and then tries to piece them together in my head.

That is what I usually did for my designs and sometimes with a help of sketches as well. With my 2 helpers around, this is our final food art.

I felt I kinda screwed up the face feature but Caroline seems to be happy with this then it is all good I suppose. Luckily there is a pink polka dot cupcake wrapper and also some other ingredients around that I could play with. I tried to create the Disney’s castle as the background but with limited ingredients, I think this is the best that I can do.

That’s all for today! Check out Wall’s website and facebook page while you at it! If you are interested in food art, Wall’s is organising a contest that can win you a family trip to Disneyland! Details below!

NIVEA In-shower Skin Conditioner – I Am A Smooth Criminal

Author:

Do you use any skin lotion? The only thing I can differentiate from the department store are just the bottles labeled “Shower Gel” and the ones labeled “Shampoo”. The last time I used a skin lotion was being forced by Caroline last year and I hated it. The time needed to dry off is so unbearable. I hate the oiliness and also stickiness of the said lotion on my skin. It is just plain uncomfortable. I was very intrigued when I heard of this product. So intrigued, that I came up with a comic called The Adventures of Sheric Holmes – Smooth Criminal edition. Here it is. Enjoy.

If you were to talk about one of of the top Android smartphones or phablet this year, the Sony Xperia  Ultra is definitely one of them. Build in an elegant squarish form and also with glass surface for the front and back part, the Sony Xperia Z Ultra also boasts an incredible build that makes it dust and water proof. The Ninetology U9Z1+ is probably the most expensive Ninetology phone although only priced at RM1299 but it is also one of Ninetology most advanced smartphone in the market at the moment. How do these compared to each other? Shall we find out?

On the other hand, that also means my wallet is happily sacrificing why crying at the same time. Such mixed emotions. Anyway, it is extremely tough to pull off anything surprising at all for her. Especially when we are being together for most of the time, doing anything suspicious might potentially leads to unnecessary arguments.

Talking On The Phone

Author:

So it’s a Tuesday and it’s a holiday in Malaysia. Happy Deepavali to all my Indian friends and readers! For those who are not, Happy Holiday! Anyway, have you ever try observing how someone would actually answer their phone? I witnessed some people had developed a certain habit, either intentional or unintentional, when answering a phone call. Some habits are faint while some habits are so obvious that it could fully use Captain Obvious’s ability. One of them is my mom. I know there is a high chance of her reading this, so before I proceed, sorry for making fun of you but I still love you!

The Most Happening Party of 2012 at KWC Kuala Lumpur – Hennessy Artistry

Author:
When you talk about party of the year, most people in their mind would have the name Hennessy Artistry popped up. Do you need a reason why? Frankly, I don’t know as I had never been to any of the Hennessy Artistry before in my life as I’m not much of a party goer. Hence, I want to find out. I want to know is all the fuss about. I want to know why is it considered one of the MUST go event in Malaysia every single year. So this coming 8th September 2012, Hennessy Artistry is back in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. This would be their second installment of 2012’s Global Art of Mixing Trilogy after the first installment at SQCC Penang last June. This is going to take place at Level 15 KWC Kuala Lumpur. And since it would be my virgin experience of the Hennessy Artistry, I decided to call a veteran to guide me and lead me with the do’s and don’t’s of partying Hennessy Artistry style. He is none other than our Internet Purple Icon (not a relative of an extremely annoying to me and talking purple dinosaur) Ernest Ng from Bro, Don’t Like That La Bro.
