I think there is one thing that only close friends of mine would be aware of is that I dislike clubs or any drinking events but I enjoyed going to pubs. When it comes to pub, I can always expect some good pub food to go along with my drinks. So one fine day, I was delighted by an invitation from Jayson to one of his friend’s sports bar at Changkat, Bukit Bintang.
The bar is decorated with flags all over and also multiple TVs. What makes this sports bar such a great place for sports junkie to hang out is that they air all sorts of sports channels over here. That means you get to enjoy more than 1 sport at a time or there isn’t any need to argue with your group of friends which derby matches to watch.
There are quite a number of foreigners over here and drinks options are plentiful. They also provide a pool table within their outlet so you can take a break from all the drinking and TV watching and play a little pool game.
When we first came here, we were told by Jayson to keep our expectations minimal for the food. Needless to say, I had eaten enough bar food to know what kind of quality bar food offers. However, Front Page had impressed me so far with their dishes. Our grilled chicken wings are seasoned nicely while grilled to perfection. The meat is tender and juicy and it wasn’t overcooked like the ones we had in most bars. This dish is perfect to go along with beers.
Next, we get to try their Lamb Shank which is enormous in portion. A plate of that can easily feed up to 4 people. And it is very affordable as well – pricing only a RM30 – the lamb shank guarantees you will not leave the place hungry. The sauces are done nicely and meat are cooked nicely as well. I would prefer the dish to have more sauce though judging by how much meat this thing has.
Their Smoked Salmon Bruschetta is the one to look our for if you are looking for something light. Fresh salmon served with fresh vegetables and bread is a combination that can never go wrong.
However, the highlight dish of the night is definitely their prawn wrappers or popiah since they don’t have a name yet when we tried this dish. The wrap is fried to golden brown perfection but what really makes this dish outstanding is the fresh succulent prawns used. Quite often I had encountered bars to used ingredients that are not fresh but not for Front Page. The prawns are so fresh, I think even without the crispy wrap, it will do just fine as a dish.
If you are a fan of pizza and pork, never leave this one out of your order. The thin crust pizza is baked to crisp perfection and the chunky pork meat and bacon are something you can never get enough of. Their chef is really generous with their ingredients and this dish is simply porkylicious.
Satay is considered one of Malaysians most loved street food and for pork lovers, it is hard to find a place that sells really good pork satay. When I was introduced to Front Page’s pork satay, I didn’t expect to be introduced to one of the best pork satay I had in Kuala Lumpur. The juicy and tender pork meat are grilled to perfection and their seasoning hits all the right spots. Their peanut dipping sauce is amazing as well – it is thick and the spiciness is just right. You can never have too much of these pork satays. Pricing at RM18 for this dish, it is a little pricey but it is definitely a dish that you will be unwilling to share with anyone if you like pork and satay.
Of course not to mention, the wide variety of drinks you can have here in Front Page is the main reason why people go to a bar. Front Page has a lot of good features any sports bar and grill should have which are – wide variety of alcoholic beverages, multiple TVs for different sports and good food. So if there is a big game coming up, making Front Page as your choice of hang out spot will not be wrong.
