Probably it is not a secret to the world that I did not have the smoothest face on the planet. The funny thing about my pimple scars is that everyone assumes that I used to pinch my pimples a lot and hence the scar. To be honest, it is quite the opposite, I never liked the idea of pinching my pimples and had never done that in my entire life. I do however, played basketball a lot and my face seems to have the shittiest luck with the ball. You can roughly guess what happened there. After much persuasion from Caroline, I decided to give this laser treatment at ME Aesthetic Clinic a try.
ME Aesthetic Clinic is located in Berjaya Times Square, Jalan Imbi Kuala Lumpur. It was not that hard to find as long as you know where Borders at. The clinic is situated almost directly opposite Borders. This was my first aesthetic treatment and I did not know what to expect. I sort of guessed that I needed to go through a laser treatment but I’m not sure if that will be sufficient.
I was consulted by the friendly Dr. David Low and he briefed me through certain things I need to know about my skin. He did mention that laser treatment is not enough to cure my scars and he mentioned I would still need to go through another treatment to “push out” my skin indentation. I was also warned that there might be obvious swell and bruises on my face.
Dr. David was kind and patient enough to brief me through the processed that I will undergo. Since i am already there, I am determined to make the best out of it.
Before I began to zap my face, I was brought to a bed and numbing cream was applied to my face, a sensation I would say interesting as if my skin grew several inches thicker. Pardon my unshaven look and tired look. I guess even after increasing the exposure of the photo, my eye bags are still very much prominent – not that hard to guess that I had a long week.
To my surprise, it wasn’t that bad. Although I was told the level of the laser was only set to mild, hence it wasn’t that painful. I began to actually wish there will be no higher level than that. The process was quick and simple. After that treatment, I was brought to another room to have my face cooled, cleansed and it is like giving candy to my face after taking it to a doctor.
However, as I checked on the mirror, I was surprised that my face got immediately smoother!
Only I realise that it wasn’t my face that immediately became smooth. It is just that my cheeks are so swollen from the laser treatment, my cheeks actually looked smooth. Well, that’s some awkward moment.
After a couple of days, my swelling subsides and then my skin started to peel off. It took about 10 days for my skin to fully peeled off. During the peeling off stage, my skin seems textured with cross hatch and I was surprised that it took only a couple of days my skin to peeled and reveal a new layer.
My face was itchy almost everyday and I had to stop myself from scratching the new skin. So how did my skin fare? I had a lot of people asking me about my progress, I suppose that’s normal if you have a moon face most part of your life. So here it is.
Verdict for 14 days after the 1st session are as below:
- My skin did improved quite a bit.
- The shallow scars and some pigmentations are actually healed.
- Slightly smoother skin as well.
This was supposedly set to “Mild” and it seems that the higher the level of intensity, the much faster it would heal. So I still have a couple more session to go. Wonder how far can this bring me.
