Le Pont Boulangerie’s Christmas Menu | Novel Noel

Author:

A Christmas celebration usually involves a get-together over dinner/lunch session whether with your family or friends. As much as I would like to gather around with my friends or family members, usually cooking a feast is so much of a hassle. There are plenty of options for restaurants and cafes if you would like to dine out this Christmas at Petaling Jaya or Kuala Lumpur but let me introduce you to Le Pont Boulangerie.

Le Pont Boulangerie is a french inspired cafe plus bakery located at Bedford Business Park at Old Klang Road. This cafe has only been around half a year but they already been having loyal customers ever since. Especially for their bread.

I was lucky enough to be invited to try out their Christmas menu.

This year, Le Pont invites diners to embark on a captivating journey of the senses and palate. Themed “Novel Noel“, the campaign runs from 23rd November 2015 to 4th January 2016 and features a ravishing selection of timeless Christmas flavours infused with a touch of contemporary flair. From main courses to desserts and drinks, each segment of the seasonal menu is lovingly crafted by the award-winning culinary trio behind this chic patisserie-cum-caféChef de Cuisine Daniel Wong, Pastry Chef Padzli and Head of Coffee David Leong.

Vichyssoise -RM12.90

The Vichyssoise is a traditional French thick soup which consists of puréed leeks and cream of potatoes, topped with garlic croutons. The thick and creamy soup is fragrant and the subtle sweetness of leeks is complimenting the taste of potatoes really well.

Salad Nicoise -RM16.90

Frisée & Beef Bacon Salad -RM16.90

They are serving two types of salad in their Christmas menu which are the Salad Nicoise and Frisée & Beef Bacon Salad. Salad Nicoise is a traditional French salad which is served with eggs, tuna, shallot vinaigrette and green beans. You get the crunchy sensation of biting into each spoonful while each ingredient compliments each other well in flavours and texture. My favourite among the two salad though is the Frisée & Beef Bacon Salad for obvious reasons – beef bacon. The runny yolk from the poached egg provide a nice silky texture to the whole salad as well.

Seafood Red Rhapsody -RM38.00

This is a must try dish for all seafood enthusiast. This hearty bouillabaisse seafood stew- a classic seafood French stew is brimming with razor clams, seabass and prawns. The stew is strong in taste and flavour coming from the seafood and it goes perfect with the garlic toast they served on the side.

Le Pont’s Special Lamb Shank -RM37.90

This lamb shank is braised in house-made apricot sauce and served with potatoes, roasted peppers and asparagus. The meat was braised perfectly till meat is tender and flavourful. There is a slight sweetness from the apricot sauce and strong savoury taste from other ingredients.

Orange Cinnamon Bliss -RM14.50

Cinnamon Affogato -RM14.50

These two unique mixture of coffee is a must try for any coffee lovers especially the cinnamon affogato. The Orange Cinnamon bliss is a fusion of coffee, soda water and orange cinnamon ice cubes. As the ice cubes melt, you will get more orange and cinnamon flavour. The drink gave several types of flavour at one serving. First, you have the strong coffee taste with soda and a little hint of cinnamon. Secondly, as the ice cube melted slightly, you will get a stronger cinnamon taste. Thirdly, as the core of the ice cubes consists of more orange flavour, you will get more orange flavour than the rest of the other ingredient. A pretty unique drink that provides a very unique experience as well.

However, my personal favourite will be their Cinnamon Affogato. Their homemade cinnamon ice cream have the right amount of sweetness for me (which is not too sweet) and it compliments will with their strong coffee. Definitely a must try if you enjoy affogato.

Christmas Tree Waffle -RM17.90

Molten Snowman -RM19.90

Snowy Wonderland -RM20.90

Christmas Tree Waffle – Specialty jade waffles with a light dusting of snow frosting and served with homemade raspberry sorbet, almond crumble, diced strawberry and fresh whipped cream. In case you’re wondering, the green color waffles was actually not pandan nor green tea flavor, but spirulina!
Molten Snowman – The timeless combination of chocolate and vanilla enjoyment and topped with a luscious scoop of vanilla ice cream perched on molten chocolate cake with feuilletine topping.
Snowy Wonderland – Dark chocolate ganache ball with a surprise centre of homemade honey ice cream, strawberry and blueberry. Paired with a sprinkle of snow meringue and velvety chocolate sauce.
Honestly, among all these 3 delicious desserts offered by Le Pont Boulangerie, I enjoyed their Christmas Tree Waffle the most. The texture of their waffle is perfect – crispy on the outside and soft on the inside and raspberry sorbet pairs nicely with the waffle. And I’m not even a fan of raspberry.
The Molten Snowman is definitely a must try for all who enjoys molten chocolate cake. Snowy Wonderland is a very interesting dessert and it is an interesting cold dish with warm dark chocolate poured over it. Le Pont Boulangerie definitely brought their A game in the dessert compartment. All 3 desserts are really good but the winner for me is definitely the Christmas Tree Waffle.
