Great news for any Japan enthusiasts in Malaysia! Even greater news for me as generally Hokkaido is THE FOOD HEAVEN OF JAPAN! There are great food all over Hokkaido, especially if you enjoy ramen like I do. But hey, let’s talk about the newly launched flight to Sapporo, Hokkaido shall we?
From 1st October onwards, AirAsia X will be flying from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo, Hokkaido 4X a week. AirAsia X is the first airline in Malaysia to open a route from Kuala Lumpur to Sapporo hence ramen fanatic like myself can eventually make a fat trip there.
“We are thrilled to expand our network to Japan with direct flights to Sapporo, Hokkaido! We are happy to see our network growing from strength to strength and I am sure Malaysians share the same excitement as us as AirAsia X will be the only airline operating scheduled flights from Kuala Lumpur to this world class destination!” – Benjamin Ismail, Acting CEO of AirAsia X Berhad
Guests can also make use of the optional Fly-Thru service to connect flights via the AirAsia Group’s multiple transit hubs with their baggage checked through to the final destination without the hassle of immigration clearance at the transit hub. With this optional service, guests can now travel seamlessly between all Asian and Australian cities, such as from Indonesia (Bandung, Bali, Jakarta, Medan, Kuala Namu, Surabaya), Singapore and Australia (Melbourne, Gold Coast, Sydney) to Sapporo through Kuala Lumpur, making this beautiful city in Northern Japan just one stop away.
Of course this is definitely some exciting news and if you are not excited for now, here are some reasons on why you should be excited for this launch.
Sapporo Winter Festival
I think some of you might have seen me blogging about this one. If you want, you can check out this post of mine over HERE. Each year, there will be a winter festival held right in Sapporo and it is known as one of Japan’s top festival. Here you can see plenty of beautiful ice sculptures and each of the sculptures looked Instagram-worthy. It has been a dream destination for a Malaysian who have not experience snow at all in his life.
Sapporo Beer Garden.
I’m not a fan of beer but this destination definitely made some alcoholics to jizz in their pants. What really intrigues me over this place is not the process of beer making but rather over here, they serve a dish called ‘Genghis Khan’ – a local mutton dish. If you have a dish named after a notorious warlord, that dish had to be fucking delicious beyond words! I’m talking about Genghis Khan level.
One of their must eat local Hokkaido dish as well, their curry soup is something you can hardly find in the world. The broth looks like delicious and although I’m not a fan of Japanese curry, but I am a big fan of curry dishes and I am eager to try out this.
Ramen. I said it in the beginning, I said it now. Legend has it that Sapporo have one of the best ramen in Japan. Pretty much, this is the only explanation I need. And according to the website listed below, Ramen Kyowakoko is an alleyway that houses eight of the best ramen restaurants in Sapporo. I foresee myself camping here fro a week straight.
